Wow my mind has been everywhere but where its supposed to be. As much as i've beaten you over the head with info on rapper/singer Drake, i didnt even give you the honor of watching the first video from his So Far Gone mix tape for "Best I Ever Had."
Maybe you've been sleeping under a rock and havent heard this song? It's one of the most highly regarded singles off the mixtape and is a prime example of both Drake's lyrical and vocal capabilities. For some reason this song reminds me of Craig David (does anyone remember him?).
The video for Best I Ever Had was directed by Kanye West. I love the cinematography but the concept and storyline are wack. Perhaps Drake simply felt honored that West showed an interest in working with him so he didnt question the concept? If it were me i'd have been a little skeptical. Kanye doesnt seem like the kind of person who does something for nothing. Im just sayin....
"Bad" is my all time favorite album from MJ for many reasons. For one, it's the first album over which he had almost complete control, writing and producing 9 of the 11 original tracks. Recorded and released in his late 20's, the album was edgier, sexier and gave a nod to rock music which none of his other albums had. And, as previously stated, I'm also a fan of the film Moonwalker which coincides with the album, and the music of this era really reminds me of my childhood.
"Bad" has received incredibly mixed reviews, some bad and others full of praise, but it is the ONLY album (by any artist) to have 5 singles become Billboard No.1 hits. Some have even said that his creative control, fantasy inspired songs (speed demon, smooth criminal, liberian girl), quality and sex appeal make it a better album than "Thriller".
The video for "Bad" is one of my favorites (if not my absolute). I love all the leather and chains, and the jazz and street dance elements. "Bad" really was his sexiest era. Upon his death, they began to play the video it it's entireity -which I'd never seen before- making the video even better to me. It was directed by Martin Scorcese and features a young Wesley Snipes.
Another favorite is the video for "The Way you Make Me Feel". Boy does this video make me smile. Watching Michael chase after that girl making all those lewd gestures and gyrations! There will never be another like him and he will truly truly be missed.
I love Lady Gaga... she stylin' on 'em even when she crippled and in a wheelchair. This chick is the definition of Pop - every song on her album (the fame) is addicitingly catchy, her confidence seeps from her pores and she's lived my ficticious alter-ego's life (go-go dancer). I wouldnt call her pretty (um, Donatella Vercase?), at least not in the traditional sence, but who cares about pretty when you are sh!tting style out your ass. Shes become a fashion queen and she hasnt event been around for a year....
Can't Ignore the pattern here.... Black and White color tone, one backdrop setting, Beyonce + 2 dancers as the focal point.... The same as "Single Ladies" and "Diva," yet no video is the same..... The Choreogrpahy is killer and B is looking FIERCE!!!! I love her hair in this vid.....
Click the post title to be directed to britneyspears.com where she's debuting the official video for "If You Seek Amy" i love this song and i love the video. Guaranteed I'll have that dance down by the end of the week. And I'm loving those red heels.
