Last week ABC announced that this would be the last season of Ugly Betty - my favorite show on network television - with just 7 episodes left until the series finale. Im so sad and upset! Ugly Betty is a great show with a dedicated fan base. Even though it had gotten a little goofy, when finally got back on track ABC started moving it all over the place, changing the time and days and making it hard for people to keep up.
Anyway, I want to share how much of an inspiration Betty has been to me. Our lives our parallel in so many ways. We both live big cities (her in NY, me in LA), are family oriented, have tough bosses, and we are both bloggers. Betty goes through so much crap working for Mode, but she always overcomes her tough situations. Whenever i have a problem at work or whenever something really get me down, I really stop and ask myself "what would Betty do?". Shes also ambitious, dedicated and driven and she doesnt stop just because someone says '"no." When Wilhemina wouldnt let Betty choose the topics of her own articles, Betty started her blog. I too, started my own blogs for similar reason.
I was so excited when Betty finally moved out on her own. Even when she got tricked into leasing a crappy apartment, she didn't let that stop her. My apartment was broken into a couple months ago, and recently so was Betty's!
Betty was like a friend and I'm really sorry that I wont get to continue to grow and learn with my buddy. I'm really going to miss all of the Ugly Betty cast.
If you are a young professional with big dreams and a lot of determination you really should watch this show. Of course it's not all seriousness, it's plays much a like a soap opera, with a lot more fashion and comedic quips. I guess ill be investing in all 4 season DVD's so I can still get my Betty fix whenever i need it!

A couple season's back on Ugly Betty, Betty and Amada were assigned to do an article on living the luxe life in New York city withouth actually having to spend any money. It was interesting and fun to watch, and even though some of it was clearly "only on TV" material, a lot their tricks could come in handy in the real world. Example: Requesting a sample of a product (eyeshadow, face mask, perfume) you really like from a department store. You may only get a few uses out of it, but those few uses might come in handy.
The Ugly Betty website on ABC.com often posts articles from Mode (the fashion magazine that Betty works for) on the site, and I just happened to come across the complete finsished version of Betty and Amanda's article titled How I Blew Ten Grand Without Actually Spending a Dime. Have fun reading!

As you will soon learn, I LOVE the Fall. New York is so lucky because they have my idea of the perfect fall season - Leaves falling, nippy weather good for a nice warm coat and boots - pretty much the opposite of fall in L.A.
And it's not just the weather - with fall comes new everything. New music, great movies, new school semester and new seasons of my favorite TV shows! Yeah the second season of True Blood ends next week, but that's OK because I've got other shows to obsess over - Ugly Betty and Gossip Girl (both of which are set in New York). In addition, I'm also excited to check out the return of Melrose Place and The Vampire Diaries.
Let us not forget that we are finally being blessed with the much anticipated documentary, The Septembe Issue! The buzz is unbearable, I really cant wait. Also, we'll get to swoon over Taylor Lautner in the second movie from the Twilight saga, New Moon (my favorite of all four books! go team Jacob!).
I get like this at the end of every summer. I obsess over what fall clothes I'm going to buy, eagerly awaiting the day where I can pull out my warm quilt, rain boats and my lovely fall coats. And, every fall I am slightly let down because L.A wont allow me the fall I've always dreamed of. Ugh! New York is so lucky!
In the mean time I've been having a little fall fun over at Polyvore - I made this cute little set inspired by my favorite season and one of my favorite shows! Enjoy!

Ugly Betty is one of my favorite shows ever! Last Nights episode was only so-so, but there was one particular story-line that really got to me.

The Co-Editor in Chief Wilhelmina has been having an affair with Connor (i forget what his position is), and they are so caught up in each other that is been effecting their work - especially Willy's. So Mark is left cleaning up all of Willys mistakes. When Willy is late for a meeting with a client for the second time, Mark makes a hasty decision and decides to present to the client on her behalf. Then Willy sweeps in and takes over, embarrassing Mark and shooing him away.
Aggh! this is sooo my situation. Well in some ways. When ever I'm with a client or guest my boss comes sweeping in trying to take over as if she afraid im after her position (as if!). If shes not correcting me in front of clients, she blaming her mistake on me. Last week she lost a check payment, and so she come snooping through my desk looking for it. When she found out that a client had been corresponding with me by email, and the client wasn't CC'ing her, she demanded that the emails be forwarded to her, and made it clear that they should deal directly with her at all times.
Mark i feel your pain!
