I met my friends for drinks in Downtown Long Beach at SIP bar and lounge inside the Renaissance Hotel. I worked there a few years ago when it was called Tracht's, in partnership with renowned chef Suzanne Tracht, and I always loved the outdoor patio and fire pit. Now that I'm no longer an employee I can go there for leisure.

Tracht's was really nice with plush leather chairs and minimal lighting, but very linear. Sip is much better, in my opinion -dark with funky uplighting, Animal print armchairs and a less-linear layout. It's a better fit for the DT Long Beach crowd. There is a also a really cool glass wine cellar-type-thing, that gives you a view of all the bar's wine stock.

It was a warm evening, perfect for sitting outside while we each drank a Cuban Society (like a raspberry mojito) and munched on spicy chicken wings, garlic fries and potato wedges topped with crab meat.

We had a great time catching up, helping Ashley plan a romatic weekend for her BF's birthday, and watching the street scene. We ran into several nearby events, including a private birthday party at Sip (that we were invited to kuz we're so awesome) and an annual jazz festival on Ocean and Pine. Luckily we showed up dressed for a night out!
